Spiral curls

Introduction

Spiral curls are curls that have a corkscrew shape. They are sometimes called loops. Some people have natural spiral curls. While others can achieve them through perms or the use of styling tools and products.

Naturally, curly hair usually forms spirals when allowed to grow out to any length. Natural spiral curls can occur in people of any ethnicity. But they are especially common in people of half-Caucasian and half-African descent.

People with this type of curls should ensure their hair stays moisturized through the use of conditioner. And they should not brush their hair unless they intend to remove temporarily the curl to create a wavy or straight style.

Those not born with natural curls can create them through a variety of means. Although the success of the methods used depends on the individual’s hair type and texture. One way to get long-lasting spiral curls is to have a perm. A spiral perm involves wrapping sections of hair in a corkscrew fashion around long rods before treating the hair with a permanent solution.

History of Spiral Curls

Spiral perms reached their peak in the late 1980s. Perms of this era tended to be tight and frizzy. But a modern spiral perm can be made looser and more defined, depending on the size of the perm. rod used.

For temporary spiral curls, a curling iron or hot rollers can be used. A regular curling iron can be used or a specially designed curling iron to create spiral curls. Special spiral curling irons have a metal coil around the barrel that acts as a guide while rolling the hair.

With a regular curling iron, the user must control the uniformity of the curl itself when wrapping the hair around the barrel. The length of time the hair must be on the curling iron for the curl to set will vary depending on the thickness of the hair. Hairspray can be used to keep the curl in the hair longer.

How to make Spiral Curls

Two different types of hot curlers can be used to create spiral curls. With traditional hot rollers, the user rolls her hair as usual. Once the hair has cooled, removes each curler one by one and uses her finger to create a spiral from the curl which she then secures to the leather hair with a hairpin.

She repeats the process until all the rollers are out. And leaves the bobby pins in her hair for about an hour before pulling them out. Special long, bendable hot rollers can also be purchased which eliminate the need for finger curling. As the hair can be spirally wrapped around the rod of the curler before being secured by bending the end of the curler itself.
